At our workshop close to Shrewsbury we sharpen on a Tormek T8 equipped with a dedicated plane iron jig, this is instrumental in achieving absolute precision and ensures edge straightness on plane irons. We apply the same process to plane irons we do to chisels, reapiring damage, grinding to provide accurate bevels, flat backs, crisp edges honed to a high polish for tear-free planing.

Sharpening Turnaround

Fast local drop-off at our Bomere Heath workshop, or if too distant why not use our UK-wide postal service. Most jobs turned around promptly, by that we mean same day; we’ll advise if heavy repair is needed with an expected shipping date

How long does chisel sharpening take?
Most jobs are turned around within a few days. Heavy damage or large batches may take longer, but we’ll confirm timescales when you book.
Can you repair badly damaged chisels?
Yes. We can regrind chipped, rounded, or mushroomed edges, and restore correct bevel geometry, within the limits of the steel.
Will you flatten and polish the back of my chisel?
Yes. We’ll lap and polish the back where needed, ensuring a clean, sharp edge that lasts longer.
When To have you Sharpen my Chisel?
When effort rises or surface quality drops; pros often rotate a set and send them in when productivity dips.
Do you sharpen plane irons too?
Yes. We use the same precision process to sharpen and polish plane irons for tear-free planing.
Do you offer a postal sharpening service?
Yes. We accept chisels from across the UK via our secure postal service — simply pack, send, and we’ll return them sharpened and ready to work.
